2004 Essay and Art Contest for kids in Grades 1-6 |
If you're like most Oregon school kids you love red,
ripe Oregon strawberries. We want to hear why you think these delicious strawberries
are great tasting and good for you. Did you know that Oregon strawberries
came to our state on wagon trains? Do you know what happens to most
Oregon strawberries after they're harvested? How about how strawberries
contribute to the quality of life in Oregon? That's why we're having this
fun contest, to let you explore some of the interesting information on Oregon
strawberries.
It's easy to enter and even easier to win. In fact,
everyone who enters will be a winner! Your essay and artwork
will be evaluated by a panel of judges who will choose one winner in each
category for the grand prize of one year's worth of |
Who: Oregon school kids grades 1 - 6 are eligible to enter. Student may be in any public, private or home school.One entry per person. Judging will be in the following grade categories: Grades 1-2, Grades 3 - 4 and Grades 5 - 6. Be sure to include your name, address, phone number, age and grade on your entry. What: In 100 words or less, write an essay about what makes Oregon strawberries "Sweeter, Redder, Simply Better". Include an illustration or a border design of your choice on the same page as the essay. For information about Oregon strawberries you may want to browse our website . All entries will be judged on content, creativity, grammar, spelling, research and artistic merit. When: All entries must be postmarked by May 7, 2004. Contest winners will be announced May 21, 2004.
